Windows updater.exe cannot be found

Each time I turn my laptop on, I get the message that Windows updater.exe cannot be found.  Any special reason why this has suddenly started happening and is it something I should be concerned about?  I always then manually go to the Windows updater in the programs list, and see that my laptop has been updated and is not in need but I would like to know why I continue to get this message and what it is about.

Thank you.

Hello Susitna,

  1. Run the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool
  2. Download, install, update and run:SUPERAntispyware (freeware) and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (freeware).
  3. Run this online scan (in safe mode with networking, if possible):

  1. See and follow carefully:

"Checking for/Help with Spyware, Malware and Hijackware"

Susitna,

Thanks for using answers.microsoft.com forums.

There may be some spyware or malware that is running on your system.

I would run some spyware/malware software and see if any malicious software is detected.
