low memory or hard drive space error message when signing on to AOL

Low memory or hard drive space error message appears when AOL goes to the welcome screen. There is no problem with memory or space except when aol takes over the PC it hogs all the memory. I have to use task manager to end the task to get out of it and then aol pops up agian. At this point I cancel the screen and I can use the PC through IE or Firefox. I have dealt with aol twice. All aol files were deleted, and aol 9.0 installed from the web. I did a full virus scan and there isn't any problem. But aol is still hogging all the memory. All this happened after we updated the Mircrosoft update listed as HID non user input data. We had problems with this update. We found that it had something to do with the Microsoft wireless mouse we have. Some one else had the same problem updating HID also. We finally did get it to work but now we are having problems with aol. I feel it has to do with this update but we have no idea what to do.

Hi halfpint1,

I’d suggest you to run the Low memory fix from AOL to fix error message occurred due to low memory, by following the link below.

http://help.aol.com/help/microsites/microsite.do?cmd=displayKCPopup&docType=kc&externalId=223419

And also check other troubleshooting steps discussed in the link above to fix this  issue, reinstalling AOL software, etc. If still the issue persists, do reply back.

Regards

I did as the AOL tech service recommended. Prior to that , the aol help site,  testing program stated "call AOL tech service" , which I did after it scanned my computer.

The issue is with AOL and VISTA . something is wrong with these programs , that the mem is not properly being reported/used.

It appears I am not the only person with this issue.

as stated in the first post,  I now have AOL 9.0 VR installed. I still get the error but not as bad . somewhat workable. AOL tech said vista has problems with the AOL 9.5 and up. my computer worked good until a few weeks ago when this started and was using AOL 9.5 at that time.

I only have this ISSUE  with AOL ON. computer works great with internet , and AOL is disabled.

I have windows vista with the same problem as the other poster. AOL creates low memory , low disk space false error. I tried the AOL low mem fix said to call AOL. I completely uninstalled all the aol programs and then installed AOL 9.0VR as instructed by AOL tech service . I have 200 gigs of unused disk , I have 4GB of memory. as the other poster stated a full antivirus scan in safe mode.

COMPUTER WORKS GREAT WITH AOL DISABLED !

    whats the problem ?
