Hi todf2224,

·        What is the operating system installed on your computer/

·        Are there multiple updates that are failing?

·        Is the exact error code?

Check to see if the following helps.

**Step 1:**Check the update history to know the exact error. To do so, follow these steps.

a.       Click Start. Click Control Panel.

b.      Open Windows Update and click “View update history”.

c.       Double click on the update whose status says “Failed” or “Cancelled”.

d.      Note down the error.

Step 2:

Windows 7:

Run Windows Update troubleshooter and check if it helps.

Open the Windows Update troubleshooter

Windows Vista:

Try to reset the Windows Update Components and see if it helps. Refer the below mentioned article for the same.
