we were getting error 5 access denied with our network diagnosis policy. we cannot connect to any network of any kind. i changed the log in and now it says that the dll initialization routine failed. so now what, new error but still same problem. i cannot do a system restore as that has never worked. something was wrong with that from the very beginning. i have tried everything and still i cannot get it to work. i am at a lose and i fear that i will have to buy another cd that is a huge chunk of change i cant afford. please tell me there is a way to fix this

for future ppl who have the same or similiar prob. my puter is fixed through the help of a friend who is a computer tech. it seems there was a virus that none of the two free programs we had could stop. when you get the free programs like avg and avast, because it is free it is also incomplete. we had a worm that duplicated itself everytime one of our virus programs delete the first copy of itself. they never killed the actual worm. it ate loads of things and all of this when we first booted up the computer. it actually came with a virus and we never knew it. it just goes to show, maybe not all things that are the best are free. i would just pay for a virus program instead of using the free stuff. thanks for the help hugs!!!

Hi rcelestrial

Is this computer on a Windows Domain?

Do you have Microsoft Softgrid installed on this computer? If so, please see the link below

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931096

Just as David had requested, we need more information.

What Version of Windows are you running?

What CD are you referring to? The Windows Vista CD?

Do you have another User Accont on this machine you can log on with and see if that User has the issue as well?

I would like to recommend you do a System File Checker

This scans for system files that may have become corrupted and will attempt to repair/replace them. The steps to do the SFC scan are listed below:

Running the**System File Checker**
1.
Click
Start, click All Programs, click
Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and select
Run as Administrator.

2.
Click
Continue or supply Administrator credentials if prompted.

3.
In the
Command Prompt window type the following, and press Enter:

sfc /scannow

4.
You should see the following on-screen messages:

Beginning the system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.

Verification % complete.

5.
Once the scan has completed you will receive an onscreen message resembling one of the following:

…found no integrity violations

…found corruption but repaired it

…found corruption that it could not repair

6.
Please reply with the completion message that you received.

If the above SFC Scan produces errors and says it cannot repair them, stay at the command prompt and do the following:

At the command prompt, type in:

notepad sfcdetails.txt then press the ENTER key

copy/paste the last 30 to 50 lines here so that we may look at the contents of the log file.

Please Answer the above questions too - thank you

What OS are you running (Windows XP, Vista, and Server?)

Please provide the answers to these question and other details that could help to resolve this issue
