SUBINACL - "No previous object opened"

I am trying to learn subinacl by using the /display action.  Ultimately I want to use it to correct some owners and permissions.

As a test this worked on a file on the C: drive;

subinacl /file C:\Users\Owner\Music\Recordings\Atkins\AtkinsEdited.xls /display

The same command used on the same file(a backup) on a local shared  external drive failed;subinacl /file \EXTERNALDRIVE\Public\BackUp-Music\Recordings\AtkinsEdited.xls /display

UNC addressing was required because the path was not found using the mapped letter (S:)

The message was "No Previous Object Opened". What does that mean and how do I correct it?   Is there a source for subinacl error messages?

Thanks

Frank C

Hi Frank C,

Your Windows 7 question is more complex than what is typically answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited for the IT Pro audience on TechNet. Please post your question in the TechNet Windows 7 forum
