Unable to install windows updates. Error code: 80240038

Original title: Windows Update error in Windows7

I have never been able to update in Windows Update since I installed Windows7 , always the same error code comes when I try to update.

Error Code: 80240038

Application: Windows Update

OS:            Windows7 Ultimate 64-bit  

PC:             Acer Aspire M1202

Windows for home | Previous Windows versions | Windows update

    Hi ushau,

    Let’s try the below steps and check if it works.

    Method 1: Run the windows update troubleshooter and check what it has to say.

    Refer: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Open-the-Windows-Update-troubleshooter

    Method 2: Reset windows update components.

    To reset windows update components visit the below link and click on Fix it button. If the Fix it button doesn’t help then, try the steps provided under Let me fix it myself.
