acpi missing driver

Every time I restart vista 64bit it prompts me to install a driver for new hardware. When I try to let

it find the correct driver it tells me it can't find it. I looked in the device manager, and viewed the

details. It shows to be a ACPI something. The computer seems to function OK. It buggs me that

it keeps asking. The computer once had XP on it. It's a HP computer. It showed to be Vista ready

Your help will be appreciated.

P.S. the error didn't show up in XP, and I have installed every update.

This is likely a missing Chipset driver. go to the HP Support site and download the Chipset driver (Or look for one that mentions ACPI) and install it. Make sure you have the right OS Selected ! :)

    Hi Dbob,

Thank you for posting on the Microsoft Answers Forums.

What is the new hardware that you are trying to install?

Did this new hardware come with a CD that could possibly have the correct driver on it?

In the Windows event view are you getting a code or anything after it says ACPI?

Please post back with answers to the questions listed above so that we may further assist you.
