I have a new windows 7 laptop connected through a wirless router to host Vista Desktop and a HP photosmart printer.  The laptop is set up for two users and all sharing options selected for files & printers, including auto detect on, etc..  The admisistrator can print through the wireless network but the second user cannot.  When trouble shooting and attepmting to find and add printer for the second user, the error message 0x00000002 displays after it says that it can't find the printer.

Hello Christian98,

1.     What is the error you get when you try to print when logged in from other user account?

2.     Does the other user account have ‘Administrator privileges’?

Try the below method to fix this issue:

Turn off Password protected sharing.

To turn off password protected sharing, follow these steps:

Step 1:

a.     Open Network and Sharing Center by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, and then clicking Network and Sharing Center.

Step 2:

a.      Under Sharing and Discovery, click the arrow button next to Password protected sharing.

Step 3:

a.     Click Turn off password protected sharing, and then click Apply.

b.     If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Method 2:

You can also refer the below article that will give information on turning on sharing, just to ensure that you have enabled all the options:

    Irfan H.

Thanks for the suggestions and I did confirm that the password protection sharing is off.

The origional message that I received is that the printer can't be found for user two.  Also the printer is not shown when I look at the network devices and printers for user two.  I attempted to initiat the discover printer feature and it said it could not find a printer.  I next attempted to input the exact printer location on the network that is used for user one/administrator and that is when I received the 0x00000002 error report.

I will look at the locations that you suggested as well as those suggested by Brett H. so see if anything applies to my problem.

    Thanks,

    Christian98

Can you please provide instructions for Windows 10?

After much searching I found the network and sharing center, but no options as you described.
