How can I add 'Windows Update' and 'Sound' icons to Windows 7 Start menu

    Adding the Windows Update icon.

    Click Start, type "Windows Update" and let the search results appear.

    Press and hold the SHIFT key down, right-click on "Windows Update" (in Search results) and select "Pin to Start Menu"

    Note that the Pin... option doesn't appear if the SHIFT key is not depressed.

    hi saxviz

    sound icon means "1 which is in system tray to adjusting volume                            2  sound settings and configuration                             3  your audio driver setting iconfor 2& 3 i think its a manual thing

    go to control panel<click on hardware and sound<right click on sound(and audio driver icon if you wish)

    drag it directly to start menu icon it asks for "pin to start menu"

    you will get it in start menu
