Runtime Error when using bluetooth!!

Hi, I'm getting this message every time when I close a Windows Explorer window after I try to connect to a bluetooth device:

"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program: C:\WINDOWS\EXPLORER.EXE

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.

Please contact the application's support team for more information."

When I try to connect, it takes a while and then it displays a message box with an exclamation mark but no text or message at all. Then when I try to close the Explorer window for the device I get the message above and after clicking ok, Windows Explorer restarts itself.

What can I do to solve this problem?

Hi Migpol2008,

1. Which Bluetooth device are you trying to connect? 2. Do you get a similar error with any other devices like USB?

Method 1:

I would suggest you to perform a clean boot and check if the steps assist you identify if any services are interfering.

To perform the clean boot follow the step 1 mentioned in the below article and then try checking in this clean boot state -

       http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

If the issue gets resolved check which non-Microsoft service is causing the problem; referring to the article and following other steps.

**** After you have finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

a. Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.

b. On the General tab, click the Normal Startup option, and then click OK.

c. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click Restart.

Method 2:

You may even try reinstalling the runtime components from the below provided link and check if this helps resolve the issue -

Hope this helps.

    Hi Migpol2008,

Do you have the latest drivers for the Bluetooth device installed on your computer?

    Method 1:

You may perform a SFC (System File Checker) scan. It will list any issues and will also recover the files if needed –Follow the below steps to p****erform a SFC Scan -

    a.     ClickStart, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-clickCommand Prompt, and then clickRun as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or clickAllow

    b.     Type the following command, and then press ENTER:

    sfc /scannow

A message will appear stating that 'The system scan will begin'. Be patient because the scan may take some time

    c.      If any files require a replace SFC will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Win7 DVD for this process to continue

    d.     If everything is okay you should, after the scan, see the following message "Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations"

    e.     After the scan has completed, close the command prompt window, restart the computer and check.

Check the below mentioned link for further guidance on SFC scan -

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833

    Method 2:

If the issue persists try checking in a clean boot state and check if you getting the same message -To perform the clean boot follow the step 1 mentioned in the below article and then try checking in this clean boot state -

           http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

If the issue gets resolved check which non-Microsoft service is causing the problem; referring to the article and following other steps.

**** After you have finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    a. Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.

    b. On the General tab, click the Normal Startup option, and then click OK.

    c. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click Restart.

    Hope this helps.
