error 8007064c

Question

I am having trouble opening any word documents on my laptop (Vista).  This problem has only just started to happen.  I have noticed that when I try to do this I get a box appearing stating: Windows Installer Preparing to Install, then I get the message: This update package couldn't be opened.  Verify that the update package exists and that you can access it or contact the application vendor to verify this is a valid  windows installer update package. 

When checking my updates I have noticed that this update will not install:  Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family UPdate KB951847 (x86) it gives an error message of 8007064C. 

I have tried to reinstall updates but this doesn't solve the problem.

HELP!  I urgently need to be able to access Word documents.  Everything else is working fine on my laptop.

This problem may occur if Windows Update or Microsoft Update cannot locate the downloaded update.

Error code when you use the Windows Update Web site or the Microsoft Update Web site to install updates: "0x8007064C"
