Side by Side Error and Visual C++ Problems.

I recently bought a copy of the game Metro 2033. When doing the setup for this game I encountered a problem installing Visual C++ 2005 Re-distributable. I get the 1935 error, shown here.

I also get the same error when trying to install Visual C++ 2008 Re-distributable for another program.

When I try to launch Metro 2033 I get a side-by-side configuration error.

I ran sxstrace and this the parsed .txt file of the error which clearly shows Microsoft.VC80 as being the problem.

Follow the methods listed below:
Method 1:
Refer the following Microsoft knowledgebase article and follow the steps mentioned to fix the issue:

Method 2:
I’d recommend you to boot your computer in a clean boot state and try installing the programs and check if that fixes the issue.
Booting the computer in clean boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue. If yes, you may have to contact the program manufacturer for any updates or uninstall and re-install the program.
Refer the following Microsoft KB article for more information on how to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7:

Note: After troubleshooting, make sure to put the computer to start as usual as mentioned in Step 7 in the above KB article.
