I don't know why our build worked all this time and suddenly stopped working on our GitHub CI yesterday.
We didn't have either of these packages referenced. I added the first one. The second one has been replaced by Microsoft.Net.Compilers.Toolset,
so I also added it instead. Now it seems fine.

Upgrading Visual Studio from 16.8 to 16.9 did the trick for me.

Yep, I saw the same thing when I came across this. Upgrading from 16.8 to 16.11 (the latest at time of writing) fixed this for me. I didn't need to add Microsoft.CodeAnalysis.Compilers or Microsoft.Net.Compilers/Microsoft.Net.Compilers.Toolset

With .NET 6 Preview 7 this problem reappeared (even though visual studio on newest version).

Ok, it compiled but visual studio 2019 only shows blank browser, I can manually add the localhost address where the blazor wasm is running and it works, but the debugger does not attach. Somehow my visual sutdio 2019 completely broke with installing .NET 6 Preview 7.
I jumped to visual studio 2022 Preview and this works like a charm (without the NuGet Packages mentioned from the last post).

Like JamieBurns, I solved a similar problem with a Visual Studio upgrade from 16.8 to 16.11. As of 11/15/2021.
