Cannot open WMV files.

Question

Just bought a new computer and when I try to download a WMV file, Internet explorer security comes up and asks me if I want to allow, I click on allow and I get the message:  Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file.  You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item.

When I click on details I get this message:  Name ...Pack\MediaPlayerClassic\mpc-hc.exesource-mpc.hc@sourceforge

Detaill:  CodecPack\MediaPlayerClassic\mpc-hc.exe

I found a download for Media player classic but when I tried to download it my antivirus (Kaspersky) came up with a warning that the file was not signed and was a potentially dangerous download so I didn't allow it.

Would appreciate any help I could get on this.

Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file.  You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item.

The issue may be caused also by your security program such Kaspersky or a Windows Firewall /Defender which might have settings as to not to perform certain tasks and is not allowing you to download the file. I suggest that you temporary disable the anti-virus and firewall and check the result again. You would need to turn on the security programs again which you had disabled.

Important Note: Ensure that the download is from a reliable source and then disable Security Software Programs or allow the file to be downloaded. I have Windows 7 and I'm using Microsoft Outlook version 2010. Since I've installed it, I'm unable to open WMV files. Can you help me?

Hi I Have vista pre. & when I insert it into windows mail it tells me has no association and go into association and set association control panel. I am using easy share so think it must have some thing to do with vista programming, I have used this on me ,2000,xp,& have no problems. Hope some one figures out a solution soon good luck.
