Language interface pack on X64

Hi,

I would like to install the Afrikaans LIP on my X64 vista ultimate. It seems however that LIP's don't work on X64 version of vista .

I find this illogical because if you double click on the x32 lip the lip installation software op the x64 bit vista launches and tells you there is no valid language the the folder(of course we need a x64 version). The point is there should be X64 LIP's available.

Can anyone tell me where I can find X64 bit Lip's or direct me to a place where I can find out about how to make my own LIP. I am not that great with english and some of the terms really blindside me. so I would like to use vista in a language I am more familiar with.

Hi Witzulu,

Since you are using Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit you will want to get the “Windows Vista Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI)”. Windows Vista MUIs provide a translated version of most of the user interface. MUIs require a license to be used and are only available with Windows Vista Ultimate and Windows Vista Enterprise. If you are using Windows Vista Ultimate, you can download MUIs by using Windows Update. If you are using Windows Vista Enterprise, contact your system administrator for information about installing additional languages. So since you are using Windows Vista Ultimate do the following:

*Note: MUIs are available through Windows Update as optional updates; they are not installed automatically.

1.       Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button

2.       Click All Programs, and then click Windows Update.

3.       In the left pane, click Check for updates, and then wait while Windows looks for the latest updates for your computer.

4.       If any updates are found, click View available updates.

5.       Select the MUI that you want, and then click Install updates.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

*Note: If Windows doesn't find any updates when you click Check for updates, wait a day and then try again.

You can refer to the following link for information about this:

Alright Witzulu please let us know if this worked out for you; and if you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

    Thanks for the reply,

I Tried the Mui's but Afrikaans is not included, So I assume there is nothing I can do. I think the afrikaans LIP was written by Microsoft SA.

I guess My only is to have an Afrikaans laptop and English desktop pc
