explorer.exe and bluescreen errors

Original title: explorer.exeSome days ago, my pc began to have some small troubles, at first some internetpages wouldn't load. The problems grew, and last friday, my pc had four bluescreens. After the last bluescreen, explorer.exe would get an error message, start up again, and get the same error message. I had to manually stop it, trough task manager. Now, the only way I can do stuff on my pc is going trough task manager. I have run viruschecks and everything, but found nothing. Is there a way to fix it? I also tried restoring to a backup, but the last backup was a few hours prior to the main crash. With my Windows 7 cd in my computer,  I tried a full system recovery, but the disc said i missed some files. Anyone know how to fix ANY of these problems?

    Hi julenisse50,

What’s the exact error message you receive?

A crash can be caused by due to a lot of reasons. A few of them being the following:

    ·         An outdated or misbehaving device driver.

    ·         Computer virus or a corrupted program.

    ·         A problem with your computer's memory.

    ·         Hard disk or motherboard corruption.

Follow the methods listed below for a possible fix:

    Method 1:

Step 1: Boot into safe mode and check if the issue persists.

See Advanced startup options (including safe mode) for more information on booting into safe mode.

Step 2: If the issue does not occur in safe mode, you may put your system in clean boot state (in normal mode) to troubleshoot the issue.

See How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Note: After troubleshooting, make sure to put the computer to start as usual as mentioned in Step 7 in the above KB article.

    Method 2: Update drivers

Download and install the latest Windows 7 compatible drivers from the manufacturer’s website and check if that fixes the issue.

For more information on updating drivers, see Update drivers: recommended links

Method 3: Perform a System File Checker (SFC) scan

SFC toolscans system files and replaces incorrect versions of the system files by using the correct versions.

See How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7

Additionally, I’d also recommended you to upload the minidump files so that the experts here can analyze the cause of the blue screen error.

See Use SkyDrive to upload collected files and post screen shot/picture.

    Hope this information helps.

    1. try opening explorer.exe as admin (hold crtl+shift and click on an icon that opens explorer.exe) and see if that works
    2. see if you can use cmd-windows (startbutton->search "cmd"->click on cmd.exe) and see if you can see/access your files/folders from there

if you manage to open explorer.exe in 1) go to your windows-folder and try changing the permissions for explorer.exe, though I doubt that'll help

    Hi,

you have a Bug Check 0xA: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (This indicates that Microsoft Windows or a kernel-mode driver accessed paged memory at DISPATCH_LEVEL or above.) crash.

This happens while processing GDI graphics operations. Please update your nVIDIA graphics driver.
