Keep getting "invalid mode" message

I have Windows Vista.  When I try to bring my computer back up after it has been in sleep mode I get a message in the top left corner that says "invalid mode".  I then have to turn the computer off at the power source and restart it.  This is very time consuming and annoying since it happens almost every time I try to use my computer.

Hello,

Take a look at the following KB article.  It gives several different troubleshooting steps to help fix problems related to returning from sleep mode.  One of the steps you can actually click on and it will make the registry changes for you.

Does it say anthing besides "invalid mode"?  Are you seeing the desktop when this error comes up, or is it a blue screen with a bunch of numbers and letters?  If it is the blue screen, I'll need you to post the stop code that is listed.

    Hello Brent,

I'm hoping you can help me here. I just saw a question from 2009 from lolabear64 and your reply regarding an Invalid Mode on Windows Vista machine.

I am getting a similar message after I boot up. This is what the message reads:

    Invalid Mode

    FH: 125.8Khz  FV: 239Hz

I tried to google this but found nothing.

I would greatly appreciate you help in this matter. Thanks, freed.
