I have Vista Home Premium 32 bit operating system. I have been trying to download the plugin file, mpexp.dll to my hard drive.  When I go to Start and type in: Regsvr c:\example\mpexp.dll all I get is the error code 0x80020009.

Hi marilynr,

The regsvr32 command can fail if the dll file you are trying to register is not placed in the correct location. While running the regsvr32 command, make sure that the mpexp.dll file is at the location “c:\example\mpexp.dll”

Media Info Exporter is a part of Windows Media Player 9 Series Winter Fun Pack.

Windows Media Player 9 Series Winter Fun Pack is not compatible with Windows Vista as mentioned in the following site.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/Details.aspx?type=Software&p=Windows%20Media%20Player%209%20Series%20Winter%20Fun%20Pack&v=Microsoft&uid=1&pf=0&pi=0&s=winter%20fun%20pack&os=32-bit

However, you can try running the downloaded program in compatibility mode for Windows XP.

Make older programs run in this version of Windows

Karl: you can make the Winter Fun Pack installer work on Vista/7 by moving or deleting WMP's Icons folder first. It may also be necessary to edit the permissions of that folder. See my instructions at the following thread:

Gulrez provided bad advice here by failing to point out that the Vista Program Compatibility Wizard is not designed to work with .msi files.  The Media Player 9 Series Winter Fun Pack that includes the Media Info Exporter is provided as a .msi file, so this isn't a solution afterall.
