Error Code 606

When I try to install a new Microsoft Update it quits working after a few moments and a message appears saying Error Code 606. I looked it up on Microsoft.com and it says

{Audit Failed} An attempt to generate a security audit failed.

What does this mean and how do i fix it?

If it is a problem with firewalls or drivers I can fix it, but if this is not the case please let me know.

    Hi,

    • Which update are you trying to install?
    • Which operating system are you using?

Audit policy enhancements in Windows allow administrators to use audit policies to help monitor and enforce business rules. If the computer cannot record events to the security log, critical evidence or important troubleshooting information may not be available for review after a security incident.”

    A)    Download the stand alone package of the updates that have failed to install.

    i.     Please make a note of the KB article number for the specific update which was failed. Visit Microsoft download center and download the updates manually from the website.

    ii.    Microsoft download Center: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx

iii.   Enter the KB article number in the search field and download the same.

iv.   Double click on the downloaded file.

    v.    And Click Run and Follow the wizard to install it.

    B)     If the issue persists, run the System Update Readiness tool.

For more information about how to download and run the System Update Readiness tool, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 947821 Description of the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista and for Windows Server 2008:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821

In the above link, scroll down to the "Microsoft Download Center" section, and then click the associated link to download the System Update Readiness tool for your operating system.

I'VE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE - THIS IS A QUESTION, A REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE - NOT A REPLY TO SOMEONE ELSE'S QUESTION - I APOLOGIZE FOR MY ERROR!  MY SITUATION IS POSTED BELOW:

PLEASE HELP!!!!  I am attempting to install the latest "10 Important Updates" for Windows, which I was notified about automatically.  I've tried 4 times in 2 days now and each of them fails to install due to "Error Code 606".  When I click "troubleshoot", it pulls up "WindowsUpdate_00000646" "WindowsUpdate_dt000" if that is any help.  Each time, it goes through all the motions, goes through the restart as usual, then I get the same updates reminder, showing "failed" on all of them.  I have not had this issue previously.  I do not know what to do to get these updates installed.  I NEED HELP ASAP!!!!  I am an awesome program user but not at all a techie who can fix issues that arise and I have no one to turn to in my personal circle.
