Blu Ray Audio Problems

Using the blu ray player on my HP laptop connected via HDMI to the tv.  The video component is fine.  The audio component will not come through the HDMI connection.  Audio continues to come throught the laptop speakers, not the TV.  At the same time the typical laptop notification sounds are coming through the TV speakers so the movie is on the laptop speakers and the TV is telling me that I have mail.  Both DVD and streaming video audio (i.e. Netflix) are working fine.  The only audio that will not come over via the HDMI connection is the Blu Ray.  I have run the MicrosoftFixit50131 file several times.  I am running Vista with SP1.

Hi MindyB,

1.       Was it working fine before?

Please check the link below to update the audio Codec.

http://www.blu-ray.com/faq/

Check for the issue after installing the audio codec.

It's possible that you have RCA (red/white) jacks that indicate Audio Out by your TV card and you will want to connect that to the Audio In for the TV.  Make sure that you connect it to the same as the HDMI (ie. Video 1, Video 2, DVI, etc.)

Please Post back and let us know if this has helped to resolve your issue.

Regards,

KarthiK TP
