Hello Markatarc,

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Answers Forum! In order to fix your issue, try looking at the following information:

Make sure you’ve turned on network discovery on both the computers for them to be detected.

Follow the steps mentioned below to do the same:

  1. Open Advanced sharing settings by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel . In the search box, type network , click Network and Sharing Center , and then, in the navigation pane, click Change advanced sharing settings.
  2. Click the chevron to expand your current network profile.
  3. Click Turn on network discovery, and then click Save changes. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Refer the links below for details:

Enable or disable network discovery

If you are on a HomeGroup, please check the following:

Why can’t I print to a printer in my HomeGroup?

·         Check to see if the printer is turned on. If it’s on, try restarting it.

·         If the printer is connected to and shared by a computer, make sure the computer is turned on.

·         The member of the HomeGroup stopped sharing the printer.

·         Network Discovery might be turned off. Learn how to turn Network Discovery back on.

·         An incorrect printer driver is installed. Check the printer’s manufacturer website for updated drivers.

·         Your computer might not be connected to the network the HomeGroup is on. Make sure the computer has network/Internet access. Try having Windows 7 troubleshoot the Internet connection for you.

Please let me know if this helps !

I also have a network with 6 computers and 2 Ricoh printers connected.

I can connect to both of the printers via web browsers and log on to them, however when I try and detect them I can't find them.

I add via their IP addresses manually and still no luck.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    John

    Hi,

Is your computer on workgroup or domain?

You need to troubleshoot Using the Network troubleshooter in Windows 7 and check for the issue to do that follow the below provided link.

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Using-the-Network-troubleshooter-in-Windows-7

Also make sure that printers on the network are being displayed, check if the network is working correctly.

View the status of your network

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/View-the-status-of-your-network

If the network is working correctly, try these troubleshooting options(For Workgroup):

•Make sure that all computers on the network are in the same workgroup. One way to do that is to change the workgroup names on your Windows Vista–based computers. For information about changing a workgroup name, see Join or create a workgroup.

•If you don't know the name or network address (a location on the network) of the printer, contact the person who installed the printer on the network or a system administrator. If your computer is connected to a network domain, you might not have permission to use some printers and the printers will not be displayed. To obtain permission, contact a system administrator.

•If you are adding a printer that is plugged into another computer on the network and shared for other people to use, make sure that the computer where the printer is plugged in is turned on. You can also contact the computer owner to make sure that the computer is connected to the network or to see if the name of the printer has changed.
