I've been battling a virus, or probably plural for a couple weeks. Running XP home SP3. Had one care but it did not detect any issues even after a 12 hours full scan. Tried several other free virus programs then MSE, which required removal of OneCare.  MSE found a issues and removed them, than after another scan detected the same and performed the same action. System was always busy, CPU hits constantly, poor performance even playing back a short video clip in windows media player (or other player). Between MSE, malwarebytes and Tune Up Utilities I seem to be regaining control, however reoccurring errors in the event log are troubling:

Event Type:     Error

Event Source:  DCOM

Event Category:          None

Event ID:          10005

DCOM got error "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it. " attempting to start the service MDM with arguments "" in order to run the server:

Any help as always is appreciated.

After some work I found that the machine debug manager was disabled (MDM).  changed that to start automaticly ad the error hasn't been recorded since. Also not seeing any more "threats" after a cocktail of antivirus and malware scans..
