Here is a suggestion based on a one time experience. I once had the same issue on a laptop years ago. I wish I was sure which one fixed it, but as I recall it was the video driver that had recently been updated, though it possibly had to do with power management. Frustrating, hang in there, you just have to eliminate one thing at a time and always go back and start at basics (assume nothing) that's good troubleshooting practrice.
Multiple Windows Opening Uncontrollably
When using Windows 7, I will click and suddenly multiple windows will begin appearing uncontrollably. It is as if my mouse is repeatedly clicking on the same link over and over again. This happens with Google Chrome (the 'download' dialog or 'open' dialog box appears) or even on the desktop (where multiple windows explorer windows appear). I've even had this occur with the 'sticky notes' application. I've also had it occur with MS Word (2010 Beta) and IE Explorer (64-bit). No error message appears. I assumed a driver conflict and I tried uninstalling and re-installing the drivers for my MS Wireless Optical Mouse (2.0) and MS Wireless Keyboard 3000, but nothing has changed. I'm running Windows 7 on an HP Dv8t (Laptop).

2010-01-18T15:13:14+00:00 That sounds like a defective mouse or keyboard. Is it possible to try a different mouse and keyboard?

2010-05-23T02:00:38+00:00 I'm using a MS Wireless Keyboard 3000 as well. It's been several months now, and the problem persists. At one point, I thought that a driver conflict was identified and repaired, but no.

2010-01-18T19:19:59+00:00 I have to agree, I have the same problem on a 2 month old Dv6t (64 bit W7 home premium) - I've found the slightest pressure on the Synaptics Pad left mouse button rewards me with rapid mutiple "clicks". Drove me crazy at first. Since you're using a seperate mouse, try disabling the touch pad to see. Good luck.

2010-01-19T17:58:33+00:00 Thanks for the prompt responses!
The last time the error occurred, I unplugged all Microsoft Wireless hardware. Instead of ceasing, the problem continued.
I'm going to try disabling the touch pad. Should I just 'turn off' the touch pad on the laptop keyboard, or should I completely disable the hardware in the control panel menu?
Thanks for all of the help.
