Hello There:

Is there a way to enable the system protection of the unit C (where the OS is instalated), from the command prompt option, that is available under the system recovery options??

My real problem is that when I start the system restore option, just after the selection of the restore selection point, when Its the time to confirm the disk to restore, it says "You must enable system restore protection on this drive"!!! and I cannot do it!!

thats why I want to activate the system protection... but can I do it from a command line? if so, how do I do it??

Any helps?? PLZ!!

Put the following commands into PS file and add PS task at the end (if you use MDT).

enable-computerrestore -drive "c:"

vssadmin resize shadowstorage /on=c: /for=c: /maxsize=5%

checkpoint-computer -description "Done"

Rstrui.exe opens up the system restore window.

It is the command to perform a system restore offline.

    In Command promt, write

    Rstrui.exe /offline:C:\windows=activePress Enter

Unless I’ve misread your post, if System Restore is not enabled, there will be nothing to restore.

Swtiched my PC on, and found it wouldn't boot, crashing during bootup, with a brief flash of a blue-screen message. System recovery says it's got an automatic recovery point from YESTERDAY (but nothing before that other than a month ago), but it won't let me select it telling me that I have to activate system protection. I've never unset this since I installed Windows 7 and as an IT manager of 20 years am highly suspicious that an update's just automatically installed and caused the problem. If there's a way to enable it from the C: prompt then I could use the option!

Im having the exact same issue, it gives several restore points but when u try to select the C: drive (drive the os is on) it says you need to enable system restore. but i cannot do this as booting in safemode also crashes on startup for me. it is doing this from a windows update as i remember installing one lastnight. and this morning i cannot even load windows.
