Recently added function in windows media player 12 removed?

hello,

I used to love WMP. i have over 17.000 mp3's all with nice tags and album art. i download on average, 1 or 2 albums a week. So, normally i would open my WMP and click under music the option recently added and i would have a nive overview. But now i just gives the options for sorting; Artist, Albums, and Genre. Which means that i have to remember what i have downloaded recently, search for it, and put it in a new playlist. But then, if i accidently click on a song twice, the playlist is gone and i have to start all over again. Instead, most of the times i just swear at the computer and stop.

Why remove such a valuable function? can i get it back?

    Hi Wafter,

Welcome to Microsoft Answers Community Forum!

By design, recently added option is disabled in Windows Media Player 12. However, you can try with the other option in Windows Media Player, which is create or change regular playlist.

Hope this helps resolve your issue!

    wrong answer!

I made an automatic playlist that adds all the songs that i have added over the last 30 days. So WMP 12 has a recently added function, yet they try to hide it (and made it look less nice).

This was a bad choice my MS to remove this feature.  Making an auto generated playlist is in my opinion, an amateur workaround.

I'd have to agree with the negative comments here and around the net regarding changes to the WMP interface. To many changes for the sake of change.  Specifically to the question regarding "Recently Added", this was a feature I use daily.  Many searches before finding this thread found users all over the net expressing similar opinions and not getting the answer.  I did find your work around here; but feel it is not the simple, elegant solution found in previous versions of WMP.  "Folder View" is a gripe along those same lines.

    Thanks

Another workaround is to click on the 'Music' library in the left pane tree view (which has Artist/Album/Genre under it), which will bring up a details type view. You can then right click on the columns, select 'Choose Columns', and then tick the 'Date Added' column. You can then sort the library by date added, putting the most recently added at the top of the list (or the bottom if you so prefer...)
