I have an mp3 player that works just fine on my wifes XP system but when I try and use it with Vista I get error installing driver ... file not found. I tried all 3 usb ports .. no luck.  I uninstalled device ... nothing.  Then I tried plugging in a thumb drive ... un recognize device. I tried about everthing that I found online.  I would reinstall Vista but I don't have it on CD, I do have the product code.

Are you sure you have the correct drivers for Vista and that the device is compatible with Vista?  Just because it works on XP is no guarantee it will work on Vista (especially if you are using XP drivers).  What is the manufacturer, make, and model of mp3 player?  What version of Vista are you using?

Please answer these questions in your reply.  Also check with the manufacturer for updated drivers, firmware, and/or software compatible with both your device and your version of Vista and try installing them and see if that makes any difference.

Thank you.  I look forward to your reply with answers and any progress you made with the drivers.

Good luck!
