Hi,
Csrss stands for Client/Server Run-Time Subsystem, and is an essential subsystem that must be running at all times. Csrss is responsible for console windows, creating and/or deleting threads, and implementing some portions of the 16-bit virtual MS-DOS environment. he csrss.exe file is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32. In other cases, csrss.exe is a virus, spyware, Trojan or worm. This is a Windows system file, but a lot of viruses will also use this name because the Windows task manager won't let you close it.
I would suggest you to put the computer in clean boot that should eliminate that process to run in the background.
To perform a clean boot on a computer that is running Windows Vista, follow these steps.
- Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
- On the General tab, click Selective Startup.
- Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.
- Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All.
5. Click OK.
6. When you are prompted, click Restart.
7. After the computer starts, reinstall and start the program and check whether the problem is resolved.
Check for previous issues. If your issue is resolved, follow the How to Determine what is causing the Problem section in the KB article to narrow down the exact source.
