LAN Ethernet Adapters give install error "parameters are incorrect". Windows 7 recognizes adapters but will not load drivers.

At wits end.  Windows 7 recognizes on board LAN adapter "Realtek" drivers.  Assigns driver, however won't load driver states install error parameters are incorrect.  On board LAN adapter actually worked for two weeks then crashed.  Bought a PCI LAN Adapter, looked it up on windows compatability website. all good.  Turned off onboard LAN in BIOS. Installed, Windows 7 like before recognized driver however won't load driver states like before install error parameters are incorrect.  Using the troubleshooter, states does not see any networking equipment.  Stated wired adapter may have problems.  Well no doo doo!  Have tried multiple drivers I downloaded nothing seems to work.  I have no idea what parameters are incorrect means or how to proceed at this point.  You answers would be appreciated.  Thanks,

Shekhar,

Thank you for your response.  I performed a system restore to a earlier time.  What it turned out to be was a network driver that did not uninstall with AVG Anti-Virus.  When I restored, explorer would not open however I was able to download externally.  I reinstalled AVG and uninstalled, it told me the network driver it would not uninstall.  I tried to take out the references in the registry to no avail.  Finally, just did a fresh windows 7 install and all is well.  Thanks, again

    Hi mnsfox,

    • Do you get any error code number while you get this error message?

Try the drivers from the manufacturers website.

Try using the same Ethernet Adapter on a different computer to ensure its not faulty.

Provide us the complete error log using t he Event Viewer Tool.

    Here is how:

Type eventvwr.msc /s in the address bar.

List any events that are listed as "Error" in the main window when you go to "Windows Logs" and "Application." There are often a lot of them. Send us whichever ones you see listed for the last couple days. (Please also do for the logs in "System"). When you do, provide us the name of the "Source" and whatever is listed in the description box below the list of logs when you click on one.

    Hope it helps.

    Thanks and Regards:
