changed the default for WRONG program:changed cpl files to open with contact list

I was trying to change my default e-mail provider and thought it was the '.cpl' file. Can someone please tell me how to fix this? It had "unknown application" originally. I'm not really sure what the cpl file does, but whatever it is I'm sure it will NOT work with 'windows contact list'.

Thanks

To undo any settings that you have mistakingly made try using System Restore, or right-click on the file you want your E-mail program to open and select "Open with", and then the Browse option to find the appropriate E-mail program.

Do you have your E-mail program listed here?

Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Default Programs.  If so make sure it has all the defaults set.

If not see this article.
