Problem solved. I had removed the shortcut arrow (that is shown on the bottom left corner of a shortcut icon) using a program. I restored showing of the shortcut arrow and all my problems have got solved. Got the solution here:Fix Unable to Pin App to Taskbar and Start Menu (Missing Context Menu and Jump Lists) Error in Windows 7 » My Digital Life
Not able to remove recent programs from start menu and more problems...
I am using Windows 7 Ultimate. I have the "Store and display recently opened programs... " and "Store and display recently opened items... " options checked.
1. I am not able to remove recently opened programs from the start menu. I follow this procedure: Right click on what I want to remove and then click "Remove from list." This isn't working.
2. The recently opened items are not shown in the start menu but are shown in the taskbar's context menu. For example, there is an entry in the start menu, "Notepad" After opening certain number of files with Notepad, a little arrow appears on the right of that entry but on clicking it, nothing is shown. Although if I right click on Notepad in the taskbar, I see recently opened items in the menu there.
3. In the left navigation pane in Windows Explorer, when I click the arrow at the left of "Favorites", nothing is shown, although when I click it, I see on the right, "Desktop", "Download", "Recent places". I right clicked Favorites->Restore Favorites links but didn't help.
Can anybody help me out of these problems?

2010-09-30T12:19:34+00:00 You must have been using the wrong program for removing the shortcut arrows.
Try - Tweak Now PowerPack 2009 (or maybe a more recent version if there is one). This program has a number of good tweaks, and works well - at least on Win7 Home Premium (64bit).
