My computer will no longer boot up (getting the blue screen of death).  Some details are:

BAD_POOL_CALLER

***STOP: 0x000000c2 (0x00000043, 0xC1AE0000, 0x00000000,0x00000000)

Background: I was accessing the internet (MSN) and then my computer locked up so I had shut it down manually. When I restarted it, I got a message that the volume was dirty and the computer went through a hard disk check (CHKDSK) automatically. After that, it tried to start windows and that's the error occurred. I have tried mulitple times to restart (using Safe mode, etc.) with no improvement.

Could some please help!!!

How does your problem pertain to Windows Update?

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your subscription current?  What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?  What third-party firewall (if any)?

Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the computer (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)?
