Hi All,

I'm a newbie on managing MBAM. Need your help on this. Thanks

I've been tapped to install the latest Hotfix (October 2020 Servicing Release) for MBAM Server. Based on the link below, I need to remove the MBAM first and then install the Hotfix afterward.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-desktop-optimization-pack/mbam-v25/apply-hotfix-for-mbam-25-sp1

Steps to update the MBAM Server for the existing MBAM environment
Remove MBAM server feature (do this by opening the MBAM Server Configuration Tool, then selecting Remove Features).
Remove MDOP MBAM from Control Panel | Programs and Features.
Install MBAM 2.5 SP1 RTM server components.
Install lastest MBAM 2.5 SP1 hotfix rollup.
Configure MBAM features using MBAM Server Configurator.

Yes, unfortunatelly the negative side of stand-alone MBAM is, that you are forced to uninstall and re-install the MBAM role on the server, which will require you to re-configure the entire setup. Be sure you have existing settings, installation log or required information available.

If you utilize SCCM already, I would advice you to go to SCCM's new MBAM which is called Bitlocker Management. You would transfer your existing clients from one MBAM DB to another just by applying new policies. You don't need to de-crypt the drives.

    Hi,

Did the update failed after you follow steps in Applying hotfixes on MBAM 2.5 SP1? I understand it's kind of weird that we have to uninstall and reinstall the feature for hotfixes. Perhaps you can consider using SCCM as @Pavel yannara Mirochnitchenko suggested.
