Restore Default Icon Behavior

Hi ,

I have had a problem with the volume control missing from its usual desk top tray location.

I can go into control panel and change the level but not from te tray location.

I have tried the Restore Default Icon Behavior click but it is not functioning.

The ICONS are not high lighted and show as inactive. When I have tried to reinstall software it does nothing to rectify. I have received a prompt (and I'm paraphrasing) that the device is not installed & windows did not install or is not running or windows did not install this function.

Currently the ICONS that do not function are SOUND, NETWORK, and ACTION CENTER.

Sometimes if I reboot the sound icon will return, but sometimes disappears when the machine goes into sleep/hibernate mode.

The ACTION CENTER Flag appears sometimes in the tray and same with the Network Icon. I've only seen the network icon appear once with it showing activity most of the time when it does show up in its location on the desk top it is blank and shows no activity.

PS. I AM ON THE WIN7 PAGE TO POST, BUT IN THE BOXES BELOW (SELECT A FORUM CATAGORY)THE POSTING IT SHOWS  VISTA?????

Hi MiddleChamber,

Thank you for posting on forum. I would try creating a new profile and see if the problem still there. If you need further assistance with Windows 7, try the link below:

Hope that helps. Best of luck.

It appears to me that Microsoft are not doing much with Windows 8 anymore. I keep losing my icons on the taskbar and I've noticed that programme updates say they are up to date but I haven't had any installing updates on my screen when I log on for months, all I seem to be getting is the malicious software tool, has anyone else found this?
