I am trying to use W* update and keep getting 8007000b error code.  In reading the questions I see a bunch of people have the same problem and NO ONE seems to know what to do.  I'm then given instructions to go to command prompt, enter something and I'm then told that some file is corrupted.  It stops there.  No further instructions.  I use W* Vista.  Any suggestions for a cure?  Thanks

Error message when you use the Windows Update or Microsoft Update Web site to install updates: "0x8007000B"

Has Vista SP1 or SP2 been installed yet?

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your subscription current?  What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?  What third-party firewall (if any)?

Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on the computer (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought it)?

Everything is current and nothing has been dowloaded or added.  It just stopped in the MS inimitable way.

Tried the solution suggested and nothing has worked.
