hi

when ever i save a *.jpeg  file from internet explorer 8, it gets automatcally deleted from the system within a sec, even from recycle bin. I m using norton 2004 as antivirus. Is it because of antivirus or some other progrms in the system.

There is no native feature in XP which will automagically delete data files unless you are saving these .jpg files in a temporary location and have your browser (or a third-party "cleaning" program) set to clear out or not save Temporary Internet Files. Without knowing anything more about your computer - including its virus/malware status - I'm afraid I can't help you. I would like to but you just aren't providing anything with which I can work.

First of all you should make sure your computer is virus/malware-free. You need to replace your 6(!)-year-old antivirus with a current version. I recommend NOD32 (commercial), Avast or MS Security Essentials if you need a free one. Then go through the malware scanning steps at the following link and don't neglect the preparatory work.
