Hi,

I have setup an RDS enviorment with

1 x connection broker, this has Gateway\License\RDweb

5 x session host server.

On the RDSH servers, i have Enable by a GPO to turn on Remote Desktop IP Virtualization, and Enable Select the network adapter to be used for Remote Desktop IP Virtualization, ip address and subnet mask of the adapter that I wanted to use VIP.

gpupdate /force on both the AD server and the RDS servers it doesn't give any session a new Virtual IP addresses

I read an MS article that this doesn't work with server 2019, albeit it was dated last year so may of been fixed since? Any advise will be greatly appreciated

I was able to configure IP Virtualization on Windows Server 2022 but using a static address range

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/windows/it-pro/windows-server-2008-r2-and-2008/ee382306(v=ws.10)

I also had to configure the 2 settings in the GPO

But i don't remember if it was written (Deprecated) beside the VIP in Windows 2008 R2 or Windows 2012/2012R2...

    Hi,

Are you using the DHCP or registry setting to assign the IP address?

Except enabling the group policy, you will need to have DHCP working on the network, or you set the ip address manually using the registry.

After researching, there is only official document about deploying remote desktop IP virtualization on Windows Server 2008 R2. But you can still refer to the article for some reference.

    1. Cconfigure the DHCP server: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/windows/it-pro/windows-server-2008-r2-and-2008/ee308288(v=ws.10)#configure-the-dhcp-server-dhcp-srv
    2. Assign static IP addresses in the registry: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/windows/it-pro/windows-server-2008-r2-and-2008/ee382306(v=ws.10)

Below two articles for your reference:

    Hi,

Dead link you've sent me a dead link 404 - Page not found

Sorry for the dead link, but from my side, I can open the page. Not sure what the problem from your side.

I have read article https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-server/remote/remote-desktop-ip-virtualization-not-work. I think the IP virtualisation still does not work on Server 2019 as there is no updated official document on this issue.

But you can also report this issue to the Remote Desktop UserVoice where engineers from developing team will have a regular check.
