Direct X Error?

First post :D I run Windows XP and have the Sims2 installed and have played it before with no problems. I uploaded a new pack and am unable to play now.

Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! etc.

I even went and updated and still nothing. When I used dxdiag to find out the problem, I went through DirectDraw which ran fine then Direct3D:

Test Failed at Step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT=0x80004005(Genericl Failure)

""                    ""                                     HRESULT=0x8876086c(error code)

""                    ""                                     ""

I tried to look through the knowledge base and some sites via internet but to no avail. Please let me know if more information is needed.

Hello Lilyana,

Thank you for posting on Windows Vista Forums.  It seems that you will need to reinstall your video card drivers.  The error is saying that it's not detecting a Direct X 9.0c  video card, which is usually a sign that the video card driver is gone or your card is failing.  Let's try the cheaper and easiler option;  reinstall the graphics driver.

Please let me know if this helps you.
