system error 1814

When I attempt to update my Free Ad- Aware security programme System Error 1814 appears.  I then try to close but the screen is frozen I then have to switch off the computer to clear and then restart.  I have seen the Free Downloads under 'Bing' but when I read the terms and conditions they seem to imply there is a charge involved at some later date.  Some help would be greatly appreciated.

PS. I have checked related topics but they do not seem to relate, perhaps it's my lack of technical understanding.

If the error 1814 persist (Could not login to Service), then please try these steps as suggested by LS Tobias:

QUOTE

Try manually restarting the service by following these steps:

    1. go to the start menu, click 'Run...' and type 'services.msc'
    1. in the services window, locate 'Ad-Aware 2007 Service', select it and click 'Stop'
    1. when the service is stopped, click 'Start'
    1. When the service is running, try starting Ad-Aware 2007 again.
