When trying to set up a system state backup on an on-prem server with MARS agent I am getting the following error:
unable to create System State Backup VHDs using c:\Program Files\Microsoft Azure Re... (I can't expand this text much more)
However the file and folder backup scheduling set up works fine.
I have confirmed with customer that the account I am using (they supplied me to access the server) is part of domain admin groups which is administrator to this server.
Why would it fail with that error on creating the system state backup schedule but not the file/folder backup?
Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard.

2021-01-26T14:32:10.933+00:00 I have a vague suspicion it might be user account control related. But I won't be able to confirm without a scheduled server reboot.

Johnnie5 1 Reputation point2022-01-10T09:20:55.43+00:00 For me this wasn't a permissions issue, the solution was the "Virtual Disk" service was set to "Disabled". Setting the service to "Manual" and starting it resolved the problem.
