A 64 bit processor will run either a 64 bit or 32 bit operating system (OS).  The drivers that are downloaded need to match the operating system, not the processor.

To determine your operating system, right click on Computer then left click on Properties.  In the window that opens look under the heading System for System type.  If it says 64 bit then you have a 64 bit operating system and if it says 32 bit then you have a 32 bit operating system.

Most computers used to be sold with 32 bit operating systems as that is normally all that is required to run common programs that most use.   32 bit OS will only access 4 GB of memory (RAM) so if your computer has 4 GB or less RAM it is almost certain that you have a 32 bit OS.  It will run 16 bit and 32 bit software (most common type) but will not run 64 bit software (high end image editing, video and other graphic programs.  Most software do not fall into this category.

If the computer has more than 4 GB of RAM then you would be running a 64 bit OS.  A 64 bit OS will run 32 bit but not 16 bit software but unfortunately there are not a lot of 64 bit drivers for much of the hardware out there.

    Can you check here?:

    Start > right-click "Computer" > Properties

Under "System" what is listed for "System type"?
