I cant open the .toc file i hav downloaded. Ive tried registry smart but my computer says that the feature u r trying 2 use is on a network resource that is unavailable, then it says an installation package for the product Registry Smart cannot b found, and tells me to try the installation package again using a valid copy of the installation package 'setup.msi', then i get a fatal error during installation screen, which is weird bcaz the Registry Smart program came with my computer, why wouldnt it be valid?.  And my anti-virus spyware is protected.  My computer is brand new, so i know nothing is outdated.  Please help, i paid ten bucks 4 the .toc file.  The .toc file is a mod for an online game i bought.

How do I install AddOns?

I downloaded an AddOn but I'm not sure how to get it working in-game, help!

I downloaded an AddOn but it's not showing up under the [AddOns] button in the character select screen, help!

Sample screen of file directory structure: http://www.wowinterface.com/storage/faq/correct.gif

Um. This zip file I downloaded doesn't have any folders... just a bunch of files. What should I do? Credit:Syllani

  • One of the files in the zip should have the .toc extension (i.e., there should be a file with a name similar to NameOfTheMod.toc). Simply create a new folder under your Interface/AddOns/ directory with the same name (NameOfTheMod), and place all the zipped files into that new folder.

If it is not Wow then what game are you trying to mod? Will be basicly the same procedure. You just have to find what directory the file is supposed to be place for the game to see it. You will not be able to "Open" the .toc file with any of the normal windows tools. If you are really wanting to see what is in it you will have to do some research with the modding community for the game to find the tools needed to extract the contents of the .toc mod.
