OT: Java Error

Hi,

I am continuing to get a java error Java(TM) platform SE binary has stopped working. I have followed the directions on this forum and it has not been corrected. I have uninstalled Java and re-installed it. Can you please help me? I am not very technical, I'm afraid, so maybe this is an easy fix.

Thanks for your help!

    Hi,

Thanks so much for your response. The exact error is:

Java (TM) Platform SE binary has stopped working. A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Just shortly before this began to happen I had done a windows update. After the update, IE kept shutting down with a Windows Defender error. The error message was that windows defender was shutting down this program because it was a security risk or something similar. The problem turned out to be with an add in I believe. I played around with it and finally, after several attempts, resetting IE stopped it from shutting down. Simultaneously, I began getting the Java error.

I searched the internet and have tried the reset procedure again, have looked for add ins that might be disabled, and have uninstalled and reinstalled Java. Nothing seems to work.

Unfortunately, for my work, I conduct and participate in a lot of web meetings and I am not able to get these programs to work, as I get the Java error.

I had read on one of the forums that perhaps using a registry booster program might help, so I tried that, but unfortunately that didn't work either.

I am running Vista Ultimate 32 bit.

Thanks so much your help. I am very grateful.

    Pam

    Hi pjs13,

    1. What is the exact error message that you get?
    2. Did you make any changes to the computer recently?
    3. When exactly do you get the error message?
