Cannot see mouse cursor when remoting into Windows 7 machine.

When I remote into my Windows 7 machine, sometimes I can see the mouse and other times I cannot.  If I turn on the press CTRL to find mouse, I can see the ring around where the mouse should be; however, the mouse is still invisible.  It does not matter what I remote from (Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP), or if I am using the NLA connection for Remote Desktop.

There are two things I have found which will make the mouse reappear.  Closing the RDP session, and reconnecting will restore the mouse.  Secondly, I have a Windows XP VM hosted on this machine.  If I Alt+Tab to the VM, I can see the mouse.  If I click in the VM, and then move outside of the VM window, the mouse will be visible on the Windows 7 machine.  (This problem happens regardless if the VM is running or not.)

This problem is intermittent.  Sometimes I go hours without any problem, while other times the problem will occur multiple times in a single hour.

I've tried doing a few searches on here as well as Google, but cannot find anyone with this same issue.  Does anybody have any idea what is causing this?  It is incredibly annoying.
