windows xp thumbnails incorrect image

hi

When using windows xp explorer - view thumbnails, I have images saved as tif (lots of layers) then resaved as a png (flattened transparency), same file name, just different extension .tif or .png.

eg:

image1.tif

image1.png

image2.tif

image2.png

When I view them in explorer - thumbnails, the images for the same file name will appear different.

eg:

image1.tif will be the true image

image1.png will show the image for image2.png or image37.png etc

When I view in explorer filmstrip, the .png image in the filmstrip is incorrect, but when selected and viewed in the previewer it is the correct image (although still showing an incorrect image in the filmstrip)

F5 or restarting the computer does not refresh the images.

How do I refresh the view, so all images show correctly?

thanks

Sue : )

HiSue,

Delete the hidden "thumb.db" file in the folder containing your pictures to fix this issue.

This file is a hidden file, so follow the steps listed here to Show Hidden files.

a.    Click Folder Options on the View menu in Windows Explorer, click the View tab, click Show Hidden files and Folders, and uncheck the box for “"Hide protected operating system files" then click OK.

Now delete the thumb.db folder and check if the image lists the right thumbnail view.
