Error message when trying to start a chat or call from Teams on Skype4Business or Skype.

When trying to start a VOIP connection to a Skype4Business or Skype account, the message immediately appears:
We could not connect you, try again later

When trying to start a chat, the message is displayed above the message:
A problem occurred while sending this message. Please try again later.

However, communication with other team users (external) works fine.

It does not matter whether our tenant is set to TeamsOnly or Island.

Also, in TeamsAdminCenter under External Access, communication to Skype4Business and Skype are enabled.

Thanks for the help

Hi Jimmy

Yes the error occurred with all users. We only use teams without landline telephony part.
In the meantime we were able to fix the error. This was due to missing DNS entries for the telephony part.

In order for the external communication with Skype and Skype4Business user to work (incl. status display), it is mandatory to create all DNS entries, which are also to be entered for Skype4Business Online.

After adding these entries to the DNS file, the external communication now works without problems.

Thanks for the help

    Hi @Ralph Bachofen ,

Does this issue persist all the time?

Does anyone else have the same issue in your organization?

Are Skype for Business user and Teams user in the same tenant? (Skype for Business is on-premise or online?)

According to your description, do you mean you cannot start conversation from Skype for Business to Teams, right?

In my experience, Islands mode can only chat between S4b and S4B client or Teams and Teams client. In this case, it recommends you try to set your upgrade mode to SfBWithTeamsCollab to see if this issue can be fixed.

In addition, you can try to delete your Skype for Business client cache file.
