SharePoint Online 50000 broken inheratance Limit in document Library

Hi
I am aware of this limit but want to confirm a detail.

What count towards the 50 000 limits, If I break a subfolder with 50 000 items under it, would that count as 1 item or 50 000 items.

So just the folder or does every child item also count towards it.

If you set unique permission for a subfolder with 50000 items, it means that the count of unique permission is one.
