Hello All,

I have existing Active directory 2019 "single DC" and exchange 2013. no workstation is joined domain yet. i want to demote the only DC and exchange" and add new AD "from scratch". Now i want to use the same domain name. Is there any concerns using the same domain name.

Note: i have SSL certificate from digicert with the existing domain name and i want to use it for the new setup. I will change DNS ip on the firewall "add the new DC ip".

should i change the domain name?

    Hi,

If you will decommission the old domain by demoting the last domain controller before installing new domain from scratch , you can reuse the same domain name.

But , if you want promote the new domain before demoting the old domain , in this case you should choose another domain name.

From a windows active directory perspective there is no problem with this plan. May want to also ask for an exchange perspective over here in dedicated forums.
