Can't launch Com+ applications from Component Services

I am having problems with Com+ applications. I keep getting error messages that the server of several programs did not register within the required timeout. I am told to check that their permissions are correct, but when I go to "Administrative Tools" and try to open the Com+ Applications tab under My Computer I get a window that gives me "

An error occurred while processing the last operation.

Error code 80110474 – The Com+ registry database detected a system error."

How can I correct this?

    Hi gswonsn,

    • What's the program that you are trying to run?
    • Was it working before?

If it was, try system restore.

    For more information, see:

    **What is System Restore?**

You may also test under a new user account in case of a corrupt profile.

    **Create a user account**

I am having trouble with Beyond TV 4.93. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate with all updates. I don't know if I got the error message when trying to look at Component Services before, as I had never tried before.

I tried a system restore from 4 different restore points, but get an error message that no files have been changed because of a corrupt or missing file.

I will try creating a new user account.

I think I have a similar problem, though it's not tied to a specific program that I know of.  When I try to open COM+ applications under My Computer in Component Services, I get the following message:

    "Catalog Error

An error occurred while processing the last operation.

Error code 80110474 – The Com+ registry database detected a system error

The event log may contain additional troubleshooting information."

As far as I can tell, no event is registered in the system log.

Also, if go to the services tab, the COM+ System Application is not running. If I try to start it, I get the following message:

"Windows could not start the COM+ System Application service on Local Computer.

Error 1053: The service did not reply to the start or control request in a timely fashion."

This error does produce the events in the system log at the end of this post.

I haven't seen any side effects apart from not being able to access the COM+ Applications viewer in Component Services. All of my usual programs run fine, but obviously something is wrong with my system.

I tried doing a system restore, but the problem persists. As far as I can tell, the problem has been around for at least 2 weeks (as of my oldest backup), but I hadn't noticed it until last night when trying to access the COM+ Applications viewer.

I also tried creating a new user account, but the problem persists.

What can I do to fix this apart from a clean install?

    Thank you.

    Hi kc99,

First I would say its better to create a totally new thread ( I know that is different from other forums) of issues rather than replying to an older post. This will allow the entire community to focus on your issue, rather than just the ones that have subscribed to previous posts.

Second, I would recommend posting on the MSDN forum, here is a link:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms679166(v=vs.85).aspx

    hope this helps:
