Hello,
A colleague of mine is trying to connect to Exchange online and is getting an error below. First it was with the v1 module then he installed v2 and the same issue. Strange is that the error is not shown correctly . He says his password is working.
Anyone has any tips what to check?

Yes, please enable the logging to get more error information for further troubleshooting.
In addition, does the issue occur recently or initially? Have you tried using other account or other computers connect to Exchange online powershell, please verify the result again.

Connect-ExchangeOnline,Verbose;UserPrincipalName;ShowProgress;EnableErrorReporting;LogLevel,0,0,0,FullyQualifiedErrorId=-2144108173PSSessionOpenFailed;CategoryInfo=OpenError: (System.Manageme....RemoteRunspace:RemoteRunspace) [New-PSSession] PSRemotingTransportException;ExceptionType=System.Management.Automation.Remoting.PSRemotingTransportException;ErrorCode=-2144108173;TransportMessage=The WinRM client cannot process the request because it received an HTML error packet.
Any suggestions?
As I suggested above, have you tried using other accounts or other computers to run the connect-exchangeonline command?

You can enable logging and get a more detailed error message there:
Connect-ExchangeOnline -EnableErrorReporting -LogDirectoryPath <Path to store log file> -LogLevel All
