Hello Everyone,

I am trying to install a new program on my computer, but get the follwing error message:

Please resolve the following:

A newer version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable has been detected on the machine.

I found Visual C++ 2005 in Add/Remove Programs, and removed it but that didn't help. I still am getting the same message. Can't locate this file anywhere on my computer.

Need help to locate the file and remove it.

Thanks!

Hi Shawn RWX,

  1. Have you made any recent changes on the computer?
  2. Which program are you trying to install on the computer?
  3. Are you able to install other programs on the computer?
  4. How are you installing the program? Is it using the disc or downloaded file?

Refer the link below and run the fixit tool available, check if you can uninstall all the versions of Microsoft Visual C++ from the computer and later reinstall the latest version of Microsoft Visual C++ on the computer.

the automatical uninstaller Fixit utility didn't work for me.  i backed up and deleted the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VisualStudio key though and then the runtime installer vcredist_x86.exe ran perfectly.
